Jayachitta
I have been a Buddhist since 1981 and was ordained in 1990. While I have worked in various FWBO businesses and Buddhist centres I have always had a deep love of theatre and performance which I have brought into my Buddhist life. I have worked with Jayamati on story telling, Martin Sauermaan on singing and for several years I ran an Arts Project at the Essen Buddhist centre, including retreats on the ‘Game of Life’, enacting the six realms of the Wheel of Life.
I have recently trained in physical theatre at the Kiklos Scuola, an international school in Padova. The final and highest part of this two year training is the ‘Clown’!!! Since my return from Italy I have been running clowning workshops with teams on Karuna Appeals. Clowning is a childlike wonder and fascination with the present, while also a delighting in and flaunting of all those aspects of ourselves we find uncomfortable, our paradoxes and imbalances. Each of us has our own unique version of the clown. My workshops are an exploratory space where we can come to meet our clown. The clowning workshops bring lightness, laughter and playfulness into the difficult business of being ourselves, which is what knocking on the door of an unknown house is all about.
